The Neville Staple Band’s charity single, Put Away Your Knives, has topped the iTunes UK Ska Chart. The single aims to raise awareness of the impact of knife crime and has an important message, asking those carrying knives to think about the consequences and to stop.  All proceeds from the song are being donated to Victim Support, to help us continue to support both victims and families bereaved by knife crime.

The single has been produced by Neville Staples and his wife Sugary Staple, who tragically lost their 21 year old grandson, Fidel Glasgow, last year when he was fatally stabbed in Coventry.  The couple collaborated with Dandy Livingstone, another legendary ska figure and originator of ‘Rudy, A Message to You’, to produce the single which is urging young people involved in knife crime to put their knives away.

Diana Fawcett, Chief Officer of Victim Support said:

“Working closely with victims and bereaved families we know just how destructive these shocking crimes are for everyone impacted. We’re really pleased to be working with the renowned Neville Staple and his wife Sugary Staple to help raise awareness of the issue and raise vital funds to allow us, as an independent charity, to continue our work.

“Families and communities are being devastated by knife crime and it is so important that we all come together to tackle this – organisations, government agencies and all communities.”

The single is available to stream and download now on Spotify and iTunes and YouTube
