As a victim of crime, you have a number of rights and entitlements you can expect from the criminal justice system and support services.
These include:
information about the progress of an investigation, such as a written acknowledgement that the crime has been reported, and updates about any prosecutions and court activities;
a needs assessment to help understand what support you need; and
the option to make a Victim Personal Statement (VPS) to explain how the crime affected you.
These and all your rights are contained in the code of practice for victims of crime.
If you’re unsure about what you’re entitled to, what your rights are and what help and support you can get, contact us today, and one of our friendly team will talk you through your options.
